Dr. Jochen Braunmiller and Dr. Glenn Thompson have received funding through the USF College of Arts and Sciences Internal Awards Program to fund a pilot study titled "Seismic and infrasound characterization of rainfall-induced lahars in the Belham Valley on Montserrat, West Indies"
This study will deploy 4 seismic and infrasound stations around the Belham Valley to measure the seismic and acoustic signals generated by lahars. These lahars are generated by rainfall during the rainy season on the island. Lahars occur frequently on Montserrat. This study will assess the feasibility of using seismic and infrasound data to develop a lahar warning system
