2017-08-29: USF Seismic Lab explores local sinkhole

Alex Farrell, Kathryn Dorn, and Jochen Braunmiller participate in a service run of a seismometer located at a local sinkhole. This sinkhole opened up on July 14th 2017 and is located in Pasco County. So far 7 homes have been condemned due to the sinkhole. By placing a seismometer near this active sinkhole our lab hopes to see if there are any characteristic signals that occur during their growth. Sinkholes are a common problem in this portion of Florida.
